Manila, Philippines – Senior Deputy Minority Leader and Buhay Rep. Lito Atienza shields the Catholic Church from tirades of President Rodrigo Duterte, encouraging the latter to stop insulting the faith as the Church “cannot be d*str0yed.”
In an announcement on Tuesday, Atienza said that the CEO’s steady tirades against the priests are “making an climate and culture of d*4th.”
The previous Manila city hall leader said that the president ought to rather concentrate on his crusade to stop corruption in the country.
“The Church cannot be d*str0yed. Many have tried but failed. I’d rather that the President devotes his time to giving Filipinos a better life and I want him to succeed in that,” Atienza said.
Atienza said that though he supports some of the president’s battles, he would likewise stand up when Duterte isn’t right.
“Huwag niyo pong maliitin, insultuhin, at ilagay sa kapahamakan ang ating mga pari at obispo. I believe in my faith and I will continue defending my faith,” he said
“We in Congress must stand and prevent the continuing efforts to d*str0y the foundations of our Church. What will succeed in the end is still the will of God,” he added.
